Last Thursday I finally had another doctor's appointment (it's been 5 weeks) but unfortunately my doctor was delivering a baby so I saw some other person...oh well. At this appointment I had to do my glucose test thing for gestational diabetes... I had to drink a bottle of this orange drink...the flavor was okay, but it was soooooooo sugary and not very good. It tasted like someone melted a bunch of orange popsicles and added several cups of sugar...gross! My test results came back and no gestational diabetes..yay! However, when the nurse took my blood pressure, she said it was a little high...but the doctor didn't say anything about it...so I don't know if it's bad. Then they asked me to give a urine sample at the beginning of my appointment like always but then as I was leaving they asked me to give another one????? I have no idea why. They didn't say anything, so hopefully it's nothing bad... My belly is measuring 30-31 cm, which is right on track :)
Kyle and I have been taking prenatal classes at the hospital. We took a new begining parenting class, which was really good and talked about different things about caring for an infant that I didn't even think about. We are currently in a prepared childbirth class and it's way nice to learn about what exactly happens in labor, what I can expect, and how to relax and stuff...but on the other hand, it makes me sooooo nervous thinking about labor! I'm so scared! Part of me wants to see how much of labor I can take before getting an epidurl and try to do it natural...but part of me just wants to get the epidurl and escape as much of the pain as I can...I don't know what I'll do yet... I also took a breastfeeding class, which was sooo helpful! That was the best class so far. It really helped ease some of my fears of breastfeeding.
We ordered a crib from this store here in town, and it said it can take 6-10 weeks to ship (you get a cheaper price doing the longer shipping time) ...and it's been 9 weeks and I just want my crib! We haven't done anything in the baby's room because we don't have it, and it's a mess! I just want to get it all ready. Kyle laughs and asks why I can't wait and I why I have such a desire to get it done now...but I just want it done! haha.
Jackson is moving around a ton everyday and it's so cool to feel him move and see my belly morph haha.

Beginning til now
Last September Kyle and I decided that we both felt like we should have a baby. On October 15th (4 weeks pregnant) I took an at home pregnancy test and found out I was pregnant, and a rush of emotions started pouring in...I was so so excited..and scared too haha. Could I really do this? What if I wasn't ready? What if I wasn't going to be a good mom...What do I do with a baby...how do I take care of it?... Despite all the fears, though, I was so excited and couldn't believe that was going to have a baby :) I LOVE babies and I've always wanted to be a mom. I was excited that Kyle and I were going to have a little family :)
At 11 weeks I had my first appointment with my doctor. At that appointment we got to hear the babies heartbeat and have our first ultrasound. It was so cool to see our little alien-looking baby and hear his heartbeat. It was so neat-I just couldn't stop smiling, and Kyle was so cute with a huge grin on his face...It's so sweet how excited Kyle is for our baby :)
The first trimester was a hard one...I was soooooo exhausted all the time. I'd come home from work and be ready to go to bed by 6:30 or 7:00...I usually didn't make it much past 9. The worst part of the trimester though was the heartburn! I've never experienced heartburn before. Some times I'd have heartburn for 3 days straight! Chocolate gave me heartburn...sugary things gave me heartburn...marinara sauce gave me heartburn...spicy things...eating big meals....and the worst part is, my heartburn would get so bad I'd throw up at night. It was no fun! I HATE throwing up...sometimes I'd throw up just 5 minutes after I ate something. Needless to say, I did NOT have a big appetite during my first trimester. I only ate when I was really really hungry and I didn't have a lot of variety in my diet. I ate a ton of cereal and milk haha.
The second trimester was soooooo much better! I learned to not eat spicy things and to take tums immediately after eating chocolate or after eating big meals. I could tell when I was maybe gonna get heart burn and stop it before it got bad----so no more throwing up for me-Yay! I also had so much more energy. I wasn't tired so much any more. The best part is, I was in a great mood ALL the time! I was so happy. I felt good, I was excited about the baby, I had energy to go out and do fun things with my husband...our relationship was getting better and better...it was a great trimester! At 19 weeks I had my second ultrasound and we found out that we were having a little baby boy! Kyle had been calling our baby a he from the time we found out we were having a baby...and he was right haha! I had kind of always wanted a girl first, but now I'm so excited it's a little boy! I can't wait until I get to meet our little son :)
The ultrasound was so cool! We got to see him moving around. He had a ton of room in my tummy, but he was still all scrunched up in a little ball. He wasn't shy when it came to showing us he was a little boy...there was no wondering, it was quite obvious! However, he was shy when it came to showing his face. It took forever to get him to move his arms away from his face so we could get a good picture :) The 3D ultrasound was way cool and so are the pics..although just from the way the pictures are, our baby looks like a little clown haha with huge lips :)...hopefully he doesn't look like a clown when he comes out, but if he does, he'll still be perfect to me :). The ultrasound tech told me that my placenta was on top of my belly, which is fine but it meant that it would take longer to feel my baby kick because he had to kick through more layers. I didn't feel any kind of flutters or anything until I was 21 weeks, but now our little baby moves all the time :) Kyle's only felt him once, because our little baby won't kick when Kyle puts his hand on my belly...oh well.
I'm now entering my third trimester and my appetite has increased a hundred-fold...and so has the size of my belly! My belly seems to have doubled in size once a week for the past couple of weeks. It's making it harder and harder to move and bend haha. My first 20ish weeks I had not a lot of desire to eat anything and I didn't really crave anything...and the good news for my weight gain was that chocolate and sugary things did NOT taste good at all....bad news for my weight gain now is, those things now taste good again and I have a desire to eat EVERYTHING...hopefully that means the baby is growing a lot more and not just the numbers on the scale haha.
The tiredness from my first trimester is starting to come back a little again and that is being joined with a harder time sleeping. I wake up in the middle of the night sometimes or early in the morning and am wide awake or restless and have trouble going back to sleep. I also have a harder time getting comfortable.
Nesting has definitely begun...i have this great desire to clean and organize everything...and I really want to organize and set up the baby's room...but we don't have much of anything for the baby yet except for a carseat-can't really do much with that.
Anyways, that's a brief overview of my pregancy so far :) It's been great and I can't wait til I can finally bring my little boy home :)
Oh, fyi, we're pretty sure his name is going to be Jackson, but we're still working on a middle name.
